（１）不定冠詞 a、an
不定冠詞は、はじめて登場する人や物に使う、数えられる名詞の前に置く。
母音文字（a,e,i,o,u）で始まる単語でも、最初の発音記号が母音でなければ、aを使う。
universityの発音記号は / juːniˈvɜːsəti / で、最初の発音記号は / j / となっている。

（２）定冠詞 the
定冠詞は、すでに登場した特定できる人や物に使う

| ④ 形容詞の最上級 | the biggest one、the most important thing |

| ⑦ 形容詞の前にある種類の人を表す | the rich、the poor、the old、the young、 the wounded |
| ⑧ 楽器 | the violin、the piano |
| ⑨年代 | in the 1980s |
| ⑩ 序数（※）の前 | the first、the second、the third、the fourth |
※序数（太文字の単語の綴りに注意）
特に９の場合、ninethではなく、ninthです。要注意。
